This was a very pleasant surprise and a unique experience, as it was unlike anything we had tasted before. The red wine barrels come through strongly on the nose, with pinot noir and juicy red fruit alongside a touch of banana cake, but never overpower the whisky. The palate is lighter than the nose suggests, with hints of wafer biscuit and cocoa, and at 40% we wouldn't have minded a little more punch. Then the finish takes over, soft, creamy and long, with toffee and banana as the red fruit mellows into a syrup. Truly a delight and sure to impress. It was named Best Australian Blended at the World Whiskies Awards in 2019, and we can see why. Given the price, it will be hard to find a better offering.

Official website(opens in a new tab)Top Pick: A standout whisky that punches well above its price. Hope you enjoy it as much as we did!
Great for dinner parties and social occasions, and works well for any after dinner or dessert course. If you are struggling to think of what to pair at Christmas this would make a great addition to any dessert choice. It's also easy drinking enough to enjoy over ice on a warm summer evening, or to mix into a cocktail for friends who don't normally drink whisky.
If you are on a budget but still enjoy a great drop, this is for you. We expect many whisky aficionados to be pleasantly surprised after their first sip and to come back for more. It's also a great choice for friends who are new to whisky, as the red fruit and vanilla make it very approachable.
