Everything about this whisky is subtle. The nose is soft and light, with citrus and a touch of vanilla and honey. The palate is subdued, with a little spiced honey and nutmeg, and the finish moves from a gentle sweetness to soft malt and spicy vanilla, balanced but not very complex. For the price we were expecting something more complex that we could rave about, so this was a little underwhelming. Don't get us wrong, it is balanced and well structured and there is nothing wrong with it, but it did not deliver anything remarkable. It reminds us of other lighter style whiskies in the Sauternes cask style.

Official website(opens in a new tab)A great way to introduce someone to Australian whisky, as it won't offend and suits a wide range of palates. Its light, fruity style works well as an aperitif before dinner or alongside a cheese board with vintage cheddar and aged gouda, and it would make a nice gift for someone who enjoys a softer Speyside style.
Buy if you want an approachable introduction to Australian single malt. If you like light, honeyed whiskies in the Speyside style and want to support a family owned Australian distillery, this is a reliable choice. Just don't expect a lot of complexity for the price.
