This is a lighter style whisky that is very approachable and will appeal to a wide audience. Glenlivet finishes part of it in barrels that once held Caribbean rum, and you can tell, with ripe banana, vanilla and caramel all coming through. It's more refined than your everyday blends, which makes it a great next step for anyone ready to move from blended whisky to single malt. We found the sweetness never overpowering, with good balance between the fruit, malt and wood and an enjoyable spicy finish. At around $80 it's well priced for what you get.
